Job Title: Technical Design Manager (EV Charging Infrastructure)

Salary: Up to £65,000 + bonus + car allowance

Location: Remote (UK) with travel as needed

You know that good design isn’t just about drawings looking tidy - it’s what keeps projects safe, compliant, buildable, and trusted by clients. If you’re at your best when you’re bringing order to complex contractor-led design, spotting risk early, and turning “almost right” into “signed off and ready”, this is a role where your judgement genuinely shapes the outcome.

This is your chance to take ownership of design assurance for a growing UK business rolling out near-home, on-street EV charging at scale - work that directly supports cleaner transport and more liveable streets. You’ll be the calm, technical centre of gravity between principal contractors, internal stakeholders, and delivery teams.

You’ll lead the technical review and compliance of external design packages, ensuring every solution is safe, deliverable, and aligned to standards before it reaches site. It’s a remote role with real autonomy, backed by a business that’s scaling quickly and investing heavily in quality.

What you’ll do

You’ll manage design outputs from principal contractors across civil and electrical scopes, reviewing drawings, calculations, specifications and design risk. You’ll drive design coordination, challenge non-compliance, and ensure technical queries are resolved decisively. You’ll support buildability and value without compromising safety, and you’ll help standardise what “good” looks like across a multi-site roll-out. Expect regular engagement with delivery, commercial and operations teams, plus confidence handling approvals, stakeholder requirements, and change control.

About you

You’re an experienced Technical Design Manager / Design Manager / Design Assurance professional from infrastructure, utilities, highways, EV charging, power or civils. You’re comfortable owning contractor-led design, managing interfaces, and working against programme pressure without letting standards slip. You bring strong knowledge of UK compliance expectations (electrical and/or civils), stakeholder management skills, and the confidence to say “no” — constructively - when something isn’t right.
