A fast-scaling AI product company is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build and scale a next-generation platform. This is a high-impact role within a small, ambitious engineering team, suited to someone who enjoys ownership and building robust systems from the ground up.

Role: Senior Backend Developer

Salary: £90,000 - £110,000

Location: Hybrid in London office (1 day per week Max)

What you’ll be doing:

• Design and build scalable, production-grade backend systems
• Develop high-performance APIs and event-driven architectures
• Work with GraphQL and modern backend frameworks to power core product features
• Ensure reliability through monitoring, logging and resilient system design
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend and design teams to ship features end-to-end
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales
• Support AI and LLM-driven functionality within the product

What you’ll need:

• Strong commercial experience with NodeJS
• Experience with GraphQL, ideally within a structured backend framework
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and data modelling
• Strong system design skills and understanding of scalable architecture
• Experience building secure, enterprise-ready APIs
• Exposure to AI or LLM integrations
• Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-ownership environments

Nice to have:

• Experience with GCP
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code
• Background in a dev studio, product studio or agency environment
