Software Quality Assurance Manager

Oxbow Talent is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Manager

Job description

A nationally recognised legal services business experiencing strong growth is seeking a proactive and technically strong QA Manager to lead quality assurance across a high-impact programme involving offshore development teams. This role will be central to ensuring that all software deliverables, both functional and non-functional, consistently meet business needs, quality standards and regulatory expectations before release.

You’ll take ownership of QA strategy and execution, champion rigorous testing practices and work closely with cross-functional teams to improve delivery quality and confidence across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the QA strategy and execution plan for a complex programme involving geographically distributed development and QA teams.

• Define and enforce quality standards across functional (e.g., accuracy, usability) and non-functional (e.g., performance, security, scalability) requirements.

• Partner with business analysts, architects and delivery leads to ensure requirements are clear, testable and well understood.

• Collaborate with offshore QA and development teams to align test execution, defect management and reporting processes.

• Review and validate test plans, test scripts and overall test coverage to ensure completeness and effectiveness.

• Ensure full traceability from business requirements through test cases to results.

• Coordinate performance, security and integration testing activities where required.

• Identify and mitigate quality-related risks early in the delivery lifecycle.

• Provide regular reporting to stakeholders on test progress, defect trends and quality KPIs.

• Support go/no-go decisions through readiness assessments and clear test outcome analysis.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience leading QA on large-scale or distributed software development projects.

• Previous management experience with responsibility for coaching and guiding QA professionals.

• Strong knowledge of both functional and non-functional test practices.

• Experience partnering with product, technical, and business stakeholders to validate and test evolving requirements.

• Comfortable working across Agile, Hybrid or Waterfall delivery models.

• Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps or similar).

• Familiarity with automated testing and continuous integration pipelines.

• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder reporting skills.

Preferred Skills

• Background in the legal or regulated services domain.

• Experience working with offshore delivery teams.

• Practical experience with Azure DevOps.

• Knowledge of modern QA tooling and test automation frameworks.

What This Team Offers

• A leadership role with real influence over QA strategy, standards, and delivery quality.

• The chance to shape QA practices across distributed delivery teams.

• Collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders in a supportive and quality-focused environment.

• Exposure to both functional and non-functional testing across key business systems.
