Senior or Principal Structural Engineer - Work abroad


Vertical Recruitment are working with a well established civil and structural engineering consultancy that has recently invested in a modern Manchester city centre studio. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join the team.


The Opportunity - This is a senior project delivery role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys technical responsibility, client interaction and mentoring junior staff. You will take ownership of structural design on your projects, act as a key point of contact for clients and collaborate closely with the wider design team.


The consultancy delivers projects of varying scale and complexity across multiple UK sectors, offering exposure to both technically challenging and design led work. Engineers are involved from early concept through to construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering and managing structural engineering design across multiple projects
  • Acting as lead structural consultant at key project stages
  • Producing and reviewing calculations, drawings and technical reports
  • Applying stability, load assessment and risk reduction principles
  • Coordinating with architects, MEP engineers and other disciplines
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and deliverables
  • Mentoring and supporting graduate and junior engineers
  • Undertaking site inspections and construction phase reporting
  • Supporting fee proposals and technical submissions where required
  • Maintaining QA, H&S and company standards


You will ideally have

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered or near Chartered status (IStructE or ICE)
  • Strong experience delivering structural designs autonomously
  • Proven project management and client facing experience
  • Confidence mentoring and supporting junior engineers
  • A collaborative and proactive approach
  • Right to work in the UK
