Senior Automation Test Engineer / SDET

£450 per day (Inside IR35)

6-month contract

Hybrid – 2 days on-site per week

We’re looking for a highly capable Senior Automation Test Engineer to take ownership of automation strategy, framework enhancement, and quality engineering across a complex .NET ecosystem. This suits someone who operates like a Dev in Test / Automation Lead.

The Role

A hands-on senior role with responsibility for:

• Designing, improving, and scaling automation frameworks
• Owning test strategy across backend, API, and web layers
• Acting as an engineering partner to developers, product, and DevOps
• Driving shift-left testing and quality culture
• Leading best practices for CI pipelines, coverage, reliability, and maintainability

Approx. 90% automation, 10% exploratory/manual.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven senior-level background as Automation Engineer / SDET / Dev in Test / Test Automation Manager
• Strong automation capability with C#
• Ability to build or re-architect frameworks from scratch
• Testing experience across .NET microservices and distributed systems
• Excellent API automation skills
• Hands-on experience with:
• C#
• Git
• SpecFlow or similar BDD tooling
• Swagger / API schema testing
• CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar)
• Strong communication and proactive problem-solving approach
• Experience influencing engineering quality standards across teams
