This heavy engineering company is embarking on a large-scale growth & transformation journey, with considerable investment from its parent company. As the company continues to grow and evolve, it is looking to recruit a commercial focused New Product Introduction Estimator to join their team at their Ellesmere Port site.


As the New Product Introduction Estimator, you will be a pivotal member of the Commercial Team, supporting and managing the introduction of new products and materials from concept through to full-scale production.


You’ll have oversight of product manufacturability, supply chain stability, quality compliance, and lead successful transitions from R&D into mass commercial production.

Becoming an NPI Estimator for our client will give you the opportunity to contribute to products and technologies that have far-reaching impact across multiple industries globally.


How you’ll add value:


  • Lead the development of materials from research through to production-scale implementation, including laboratory and plant trials, processing routes, testing methods, and final properties to achieve product qualification.
  • Drive end-to-end NPI programmes, leading all activities from concept evaluation, prototyping, and pilot runs through to production ramp-up.
  • Establish and manage NPI project plans, timelines, cost estimates, and resource requirements, & coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with suppliers and production teams to assess material properties, processing methods, and safety and environmental impacts.
  • Manage changes material specifications, ensuring alignment with product requirements.
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes associated with NPI.
  • Create and validate process flows, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Lead design-for-manufacturability activities.


About you:


  • Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in financial analysis, sales, and commercial negotiation.
  • Strong problem-solving capability, with the ability to apply scientific and technical methods to practical production challenges.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical results, conclusions, and make commercially focused recommendations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and technical reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing technical reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and meet tight deadlines.
