Job Title: Site Engineer – BB Multi Utilities
Location: Coventry – HS2 Project
Contract: 3 Months PAYE, 45 hours per week
Randstad Sourceright are recruiting on behalf of Balfour Beatty for an experienced Site Engineer – Multi Utilities to join the team on the prestigious High Speed 2 (HS2) project in Coventry.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a Tier One contractor environment on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, playing a key role in the accurate delivery of civil engineering and multi-utility works — with a strong emphasis on technical setting out excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out precise and accurate setting out for civil engineering and utility works using modern surveying equipment.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and required tolerances.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and highway standards.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, inspections, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Produce and maintain accurate as-built surveys and site records.
- Coordinate works around multi-utility installations (gas, water, power, communications).
- Liaise effectively with site management, subcontractors, designers, and client representatives.
- Support programme delivery through proactive planning and sequencing of works.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Mentor and support BBMU apprentices and graduate engineers where required.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects (Tier One contractor experience preferred).
- High-level competence in setting out, including use of:
- GPS survey equipment
- Pipe Laser
- Proven experience in highway drainage and foul drainage installation.
- Strong understanding of highway specifications and technical standards.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, professional approach to safety and quality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Experience coordinating multi-utility installations (gas, water, power, communications).
- HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
