The Role

As Estimating Manager, you’ll lead the process of converting tenders and RFQs into winning proposals that align with operational capability and business strategy. You’ll combine commercial awareness with technical understanding—maximising profitability while managing risk and supporting continued growth.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders and manage a small, capable team, ensuring the estimating function runs efficiently and consistently delivers high‑quality results.

This role offers hybrid working.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the estimating team and managing all incoming RFQs and tenders
  • Assessing opportunities and allocating work effectively
  • Reviewing commercial terms and ensuring the business is protected from undue risk
  • Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and schedules to support strong margins and cash flow
  • Managing scope changes and variation orders
  • Maintaining accurate cost data within StruMIS
  • Producing regular MI, including conversion rates, margins, and trend reporting
  • Presenting insights at monthly sales and strategy meetings
  • Driving continuous improvement across the estimating function


About You

You’re confident, commercially astute, and comfortable balancing technical detail with strategic thinking. You enjoy problem‑solving, leading people, and engaging with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders at all levels.

You will bring:

✔ Experience in fabrication / structural steel

✔ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office & StruMIS ERP

✔ Solid commercial and financial awareness

✔ Contract / terms negotiation experience

✔ Leadership or mentoring experience

✔ Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills

✔ A proactive, analytical, solutions‑focused mindset
