OXBO are working with a fast-growing microgrid company based in London, delivering innovative energy solutions across electricity, water, gas, and telecom networks. Their energy solutions include private wire solar & BESS as well as CHP solutions for major energy users
They are seeking a Grid Connection Manager to lead and manage all utility connection activities across their projects. This role is a unique opportunity for a technically-minded professional to work at the intersection of multiple utility networks and play a key role in their expansion.
This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work 1-2 days out of their London offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage grid connection projects for electricity, water, gas, and telecom networks from feasibility to commissioning.
- Develop and execute connection strategies, liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), water and gas utilities, and telecom providers.
- Prepare and submit applications, technical studies, and proposals to regulators and utility companies.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective connections.
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimize connection processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for utility connection activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electricity grid connections, within microgrids, renewable energy, or distributed energy systems.
- Knowledge of non-electric utilities connections (water, gas, telecoms) and associated regulatory frameworks preferred.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- Experience working with UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and utility providers.
- Understanding of integrated microgrid design and operation.
