The Opportunity
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing steel and aluminium supplier that is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of a driven Sales Executive Role.
This is a high-impact, sales-focused role with clear responsibility for generating new business while also developing and expanding existing accounts. The company has an excellent reputation within the metals sector and is looking for someone who can build on that foundation and accelerate growth.
The Role – Key Objectives
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Driving new business acquisition across target markets
- Developing and maximising revenue from existing customer accounts
- Building strong relationships with fabricators, manufacturers, and construction-related businesses
- Identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling across the product range
- Negotiating pricing, contracts, and supply agreements
- Managing a structured sales pipeline and delivering against agreed revenue targets
- Working closely with internal operations and purchasing teams to ensure service excellence
This is very much a BDM-led role suited to someone commercially astute, proactive, and results-driven.
The Ideal Candidate
My client is seeking someone who:
- Has a proven background in sales/business development
- Ideally has experience within steel, aluminium, metals, construction, or industrial distribution
- Is confident in both “hunter” (new business) and “farmer” (account development) sales approaches
- Is highly motivated, target-driven, and resilient
- Has strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Can operate independently while contributing to a team environment
