Quality Assurance – Compliance & Governance

Permanent Role | £40,000–£47,000 DOE + Benefits

Portsmouth (Hybrid Working – Candidates must be within commutable distance)

Are you a Quality or Assurance professional with experience in governance, compliance and ISO standards? Do you enjoy improving systems, strengthening organisational controls and ensuring quality frameworks operate effectively across a growing business?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering surveying, engineering and compliance services across defence, public sector and commercial environments. As the organisation continues to grow, maintaining robust quality management systems and assurance processes is key to supporting operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

The role is hybrid; however, you will be primarily based from the Portsmouth office, so applicants must be within a reasonable commuting distance.

The Role

As Quality Manager – Assurance & Governance, you will take ownership of the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with recognised standards, particularly ISO 9001. Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you’ll embed consistent processes, drive audit readiness and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys translating quality and compliance requirements into practical, workable processes that add real value across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage and continuously improve the organisation’s Quality Management System (QMS)
• Lead compliance with ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001, including maintenance and ongoing certification readiness
• Plan, coordinate and deliver internal audits, supporting external and certification audits
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures and quality documentation
• Oversee assurance activities, risk registers and compliance reporting
• Monitor performance data and quality metrics to support business improvement
• Work with operational teams to embed consistent processes and best practice
• Support senior leadership with governance reporting, audit outcomes and improvement plans
• Identify gaps, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability and operational consistency across the organisation

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in a Quality Manager, Assurance, Compliance or Governance role
• Strong understanding of ISO standards, ideally ISO 9001
• Experience managing or supporting a Quality Management System
• Internal auditing experience (lead or participant level)
• Structured, detail-oriented and methodical approach
• Confident communicator able to influence stakeholders across all levels
• Experience within engineering, construction, consultancy, defence or regulated environments is advantageous
• Relevant qualifications such as ISO Internal/Lead Auditor, Quality Management or similar are desirable
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK Government Security Clearance
• Must be within commutable distance of the Portsmouth office
