As our UK operations continue to grow, we’re looking for an exceptional Quality Assurance, Health & Safety (QAHS) Manager to champion our safety-first culture and ensure our processes, people, and products consistently meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Lead
Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Own and develop UM’s UK QMS in alignment with ISO 9001, UKCA/CE marking, and relevant industry standards.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits (customers, suppliers, registrars).
- Lead risk assessments, change control, and validation activities.
- Oversee analytical method updates and ensure alignment with ASTM/compendial standards.
- Manage non-conformance investigations and implement an effective CAPA system.
- Coordinate the disposition of nonconforming materials, product waste streams, and out-of-date raw materials.
- Foster a strong quality-focused culture across the UK business.
Quality Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Lead ISO, customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
- Support quarterly quality reviews and performance reporting.
- Maintain and improve quality databases, specifications, and tracking tools.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing reliability and drive process excellence.
- Ensure audit readiness through strong documentation, validation, and verification practices.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Champion a safety-first culture across UM operations.
- Maintain and improve SHE systems to ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, EA permits, and UM standards.
- Manage MSDS and COSHH assessments for all raw materials and finished products.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
- Deliver and coordinate all SHE training, including First Aid, Fire Safety, PPE/RPE, and emergency response.
- Liaise closely with Wilton site management and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the global UM SHE framework, helping to build a unified safety standard across all sites.
- Drive continuous improvement through proactive risk identification and engagement at all levels.
About You
You thrive in a high-growth, innovation-led environment and bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management within chemical or advanced materials manufacturing.
- Demonstrated expertise managing ISO 9001 QMS and compliance systems.
- Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or Lead Auditor (desirable).
- Hands-on experience building and maturing SHE and Quality frameworks.
- Strong analytical, organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A proactive, detail-driven mindset and the confidence to influence at every level.
- Right to work in the UK and a valid UK driving licence.
