Salary: £35,000-£42,000 per annum

Location: Blaenau Gwent

Overview

We are a leading organization specializing in the design and production of high-performance engineering solutions for various industries. With decades of experience, our focus is on creating innovative, high-quality products tailored to the needs of clients across sectors such as energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, and marine. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our team and contribute to delivering precise customer approval drawings using SolidWorks.


Responsibilities

As a Design Engineer, you will:


  • Develop detailed and accurate customer approval drawings using SolidWorks, including layouts, assemblies, and part details.
  • Analyze and interpret customer specifications, technical requirements, and sales documentation.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant technical standards (e.g., BS8888) and meet professional benchmarks.
  • Apply precise dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, and notes to designs for client approval.
  • Revise and optimize drawings based on customer feedback and internal reviews.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to clarify requirements and address queries.
  • Maintain proper documentation for version control and revision history of drawings.
  • Assist in the seamless transition from design approval to production documentation.
  • Stay on track with project timelines and uphold quality standards.
  • Support the creation of design concepts for R&D projects using SolidWorks, as needed.


Qualifications

Essential:


  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks software.
  • Ability to understand and analyze technical specifications and client requirements.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet objectives within deadlines.
  • Analytical, methodical thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.


Desirable:


  • Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Understanding of processes related to sheet metal, machining, or fabricated components is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with D365 or similar software.


Day-to-Day Activities


  • Work closely with internal teams and clients to design and refine technical drawings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, client specifications, and production requirements.
  • Address customer feedback by revising, updating, and refining designs as necessary.
  • Keep detailed records of drawing revisions and approvals for quality control.
  • Support research and development initiatives by generating innovative design concepts.
