Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Deeside

Shift Pattern: Nights (Monday to Thursday 22:00-06:00 / Friday 15:45 – 20:45)


About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our fast-paced manufacturing site in Deeside. This role is responsible for delivering both proactive and reactive maintenance across electro-mechanical processing and packaging equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum production efficiency. You will apply strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills to maintain high-quality standards while working collaboratively with production and engineering teams. This is a hands-on position suited to a multi-skilled engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment and is driven by continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reactive and preventative maintenance (PPM) on processing and packaging equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production downtime
  • Troubleshoot PLC and control system issues across site equipment
  • Support production teams to maximise line efficiency and uptime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS systems
  • Ensure all documentation and compliance requirements are kept up to date
  • Identify and manage spare parts requirements
  • Communicate technical issues effectively across departments
  • Participate in maintenance handovers and update relevant information boards
  • Lead small projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety standards and safe working practices


Skills & Experience Required

  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • ONC/HNC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or Maintenance
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working with processing and packaging machinery
  • Knowledge of PLCs, inspection camera systems, and control systems
  • Experience with inverters, servo drives, and DC drives
  • Understanding of 415V to 24VDC power and control circuits
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable)
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (MedTech or Pharmaceutical advantageous)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and independently diagnose faults
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo)
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency
