About the Role

Leading compliance and design risk management across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will oversee projects including Cladding Remediation, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Retail and Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities


  • Act as Principal Designer under the Building Regulations and Building Safety Act for all assigned projects.
  • Lead design risk management and ensure compliance with Part 2A duties throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate design teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and buildable solutions.
  • Oversee Gateway submissions for HRBs and maintain robust a Golden Thread of information.
  • Provide expert guidance on fire safety, structural integrity, and cladding remediation strategies.
  • Ensure all design documentation meets regulatory standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance.


Required Skills

  • Demonstrable experience as a Principal Designer under Building Regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Gateway process, and Golden Thread principles.
  • Proven track record in PBSA, cladding remediation, retail developments, and HRBs.
  • Excellent understanding of fire safety engineering, façade systems, and structural design principles.
  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
