Senior Legal Counsel (Credit Risk)

Role: Full-time permanent

Salary: Competitive + Performance Bonus + Benefits

About the Role:

This is a newly created Senior Counsel appointment that will support the expansion of the CSPR transactional business of a leading insurance broker. The business is predominantly focused on CRI, and contracts are diverse and range from short-term trade finance and the sale of goods to complex financing arrangements with lenders.

In the role will also support the wider legal function with general legal contract work and risk advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Policy drafting/review with brokers
• File review and independent checks
• Non-reliance advice to clients regarding the terms and conditions of a policy
• Guidance to clients on policy wording compliance with Basel directives
• Assistance with claims and restructuring of policies
• Provide effective legal advice to manage legal risk across the business
• Ensure that all aspects of legal risk across the business are identified and controlled in the implementation of new projects, systems and procedures
• Provide education, training and support to the business on relevant legal issues and developments
• Provide legal advice and support to the business, ensuring that such advice is timely and of a high standard

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Legal Degree or similar qualification
• UK Qualified Solicitor or similar qualification
• At least 8 years of post-qualification experience
• Strong understanding of insurance law
• Knowledge of Credit Risk Insurance and bank capital regulations
• General corporate commercial experience would be useful
