R&D Senior Scientist

Do you want to play a leading role in shaping the technical direction of cutting-edge diagnostic programmes?

FlexMedical Solutions is seeking an R&D Senior Scientist to provide technical leadership across multiple complex IVD development projects, working at the interface of science, engineering and manufacturing.

As a highly experienced scientist, you will take responsibility for major project workstreams, client relationships and the translation of novel assay concepts into robust, manufacturable products.

This is a senior, high-impact role within a scaling CDMO, offering the opportunity to mentor others, influence technical strategy and drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the R&D Director and CSO, you will:

• Lead significant technical work packages across major development programmes
• Design and optimise biochemical reagents for multiple assay formats
• Translate wet chemistry into scalable dry chemistry biosensor systems
• Rapidly root-cause and resolve complex technical challenges
• Oversee experimental planning, execution and reporting
• Transfer products and processes into routine manufacturing
• Mentor and supervise scientists
• Act as a technical role model within the laboratory

About You

• Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant scientific discipline
• Significant experience in commercial IVD product development
• Deep expertise in electrochemical and other advanced detection methods
• Strong background in protein / surface chemistry and biosensor development
• Proven ability to plan and deliver complex technical programmes
• Experience working to ISO 13485, design control and validation frameworks
