We are recruiting an Assistant Cost Consultant to join our London-based team.


This is an opportunity for a graduate Quantity Surveyor with early consultancy experience to further develop their career within a high-performing residential-led consultancy.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

This full-time, hybrid role involves supporting the delivery of cost consultancy services on residential developments across the UK, working closely with senior team members and clients throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. Typical project values range from £20m–£150m.

You will take responsibility for defined elements of projects while continuing to develop your technical and commercial capability within a supportive and collaborative team environment.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting project leads in the delivery of pre- and post-contract cost management services
  • Preparing and maintaining cost plans, including quantification and cost analysis
  • Monitoring cost plan variance against client budgets and supporting change control processes
  • Supporting procurement activities, including tender analysis and reporting
  • Assisting with cost reporting and contract administration
  • Undertaking site visits, including supporting monthly valuations and processing contractor applications for payment
  • Engaging with design teams to help manage design development in line with budget
  • Contributing to the collation and sharing of cost data to support Cast knowledge initiatives
  • Building positive working relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
  • Ensuring quality assurance processes are followed and outputs meet Cast’s standards

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience within a consultancy or cost management environment (post-graduate or placement experience considered)
  • A developing understanding of core cost management services, including cost planning, procurement and post-contract activities
  • Aspiration to achieve MRICS status, or currently working towards APC (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues and clients
  • High attention to detail and a clear understanding of accuracy and quality assurance
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Effective time management and prioritisation abilities
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
  • Demonstrable passion for the real estate and construction industry, with a willingness to continue learning and developing

PLACE WITHIN THE BUSINESS:

You will report directly to a Cost Consultant or Senior Cost Consultant and will be supported through structured coaching and career development planning.
