Owen Reed is looking for a Junior Legal Cashier for a top law firm in London.

Monday to Friday

9:30am to 5:30pm

About the Role

As a Junior Legal Cashier, you will support the Finance team with day-to-day legal finance and cashiering activities. This role is ideal for someone at the early stages of their legal finance career, looking to develop their technical knowledge and experience in a busy and supportive environment. You will work closely with senior finance team members, fee earners, and support staff to ensure financial processes are carried out accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and transfers between Client and Office bank accounts
  • Supporting month-end bank reconciliations for Client and Office accounts
  • Assisting with credit control tasks, including client reminders and payment chasing
  • Escalating queries or issues to senior members of the Finance team as appropriate
  • Assisting with reconciliation of client monies held on account
  • Posting and recharging client disbursements and settling disbursements upon receipt of funds
  • Supporting daily and month-end reconciliation of credit card spend and assisting with billing for recharges
  • Assisting with immigration-related credit card transactions, including Home Office visa fees, under supervision
  • Supporting the management of client credits and refunds
  • Assisting with quarterly statutory payments, including VAT and other tax-related tasks
  • Dealing with clients and taking phone payments when required
  • Providing general support to fee earners and support staff
  • Assisting with month-end billing processes to meet firm deadlines
  • Supporting the purchase ledger, including coding and posting supplier invoices in the Practice Management System (PMS)
  • Assisting with petty cash reconciliation
  • Processing and posting employee expenses

Role Requirements

  • Previous experience in a legal finance, accounts, or cashiering role (internship, junior role, or similar)
  • Interest in pursuing ILFM or other relevant finance qualifications (study support may be available)
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Proactive and willing to learn, with a positive and flexible attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; experience with legal finance systems is an advantage
