The Last Mile is a specialist provider of traffic, transport and pedestrian management services to events and venues.


Senior Operations Manager

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Operations Manager to join us on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Managing the Operations Department, including multiple direct reports
  • Overseeing our operations at events, ensuring that our plans are delivered to a high standard and our workforce are properly briefed and looked after 
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Client and contact management
  • Preparing Traffic Plans, including CAD drawings
  • Preparing operational plans and briefing documents
  • Setting up event sites and car parks, including installing signage, cones and barriers 
  • Removing and transporting equipment

£50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience

Place of work

The role will be based on-site at various event locations within Greater London. Attendance at the company office located in Highbury (N5) will be required on designated office days. There will be some travel required to events outside of London.


Working Days

It is expected that working days will typically include Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, however this is not a fixed schedule and therefore it is a requirement that candidates are flexible to work on any day that is required. It is expected that the role will be site based 2 weekends per month. The role will receive a minimum of 2 days off per week.


Working Hours

Working hours will vary depending upon the requirements of each event. The working pattern will regularly involve weekends, evenings and shifts ranging from 12-16 hours. There will be a requirement for the candidate to be on-call for out of hours work.


Travel

Candidates must be able to travel to and from event sites within Greater London.


Travel and Accommodation

Travel and accommodation will be provided for jobs located outside of London only.


Candidate Requirements

Candidates must:


  • Have experience in event management and working with crowds
  • Have experience managing large teams of casual staff 
  • Have an interest in event traffic, transport and pedestrian management
  • Be over the age of 25, with a valid UK driving licence and no more than 3 penalty points
  • Be able to drive a company van, and keep the van overnight between assignments
  • Be able to reliably commute to event sites located within Greater London
  • Be willing to work weekends and long hours
  • Have an understanding of health and safety procedures. A safety qualification is preferable but not essential 
  • Be a strong communicator, and proficient in the use of MS Office and Google Docs
