Job title: Trade Compliance Coordinator

Department: Compliance (Finance) / Logistics


Role Overview: We are seeking to recruit an analytical Trade Compliance Coordinator to join our team. This role is central to our global trade operations, with a primary focus on the end-to-end management of product HTS codes to ensure full compliance with customs regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verification of product classifications, maintaining the integrity of our trade data, and supporting all facets of our customs compliance program.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Product HTS Code Management:

Lead the classification of new products and manage the entire lifecycle of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes within our product database. Conduct regular reviews and updates to ensure all goods are accurately classified for customs declarations and trade compliance.


Product Regulatory Compliance – Review Textile labelling compliance cross territories, understanding restricted substance regulations, including packaging and extended producer responsibilities the company requires.


  • Data Management:

Diligently collect, input, and maintain accurate trade compliance data, particularly related to product classifications and country of origin, in our databases and electronic systems.


  • Reporting & Analysis:

Assist in the preparation and consolidation of compliance data, summaries, and reports for management review and regulatory submissions.


  • Shipment Verification:

Review shipment documents to ensure the accuracy of HTS codes, values, and quantities; prepare and submit monthly Intrastat reports in line with EU/UK requirements.


  • Internal Communication:

Serve as a primary point of contact for HTS classification and other compliance-related queries from internal teams, escalating complex issues when necessary.


  • Information Gathering:

Liaise effectively with employees, managers, and various departments to obtain required information for classification and compliance requests.


  • Content Development:

Contribute to drafting compliance guidance documents, internal articles, and other awareness materials related to customs and trade topics.


  • Audit Support:

Support the planning and execution of internal audits, including conducting file reviews and performing compliance checks on HTS code usage.


Essential Skills & Requirements:

  • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrable experience in HTS commodity classification and management is required. Thorough understanding of customs valuation, country of origin, and Intrastat reporting is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and a meticulous approach to data entry, product analysis, documentation review, and reporting.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex compliance concepts to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a complex product database and meet tight deadlines.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with compliance management software or ERP.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive and resourceful, with strong analytical skills to research and correctly classify a variety of products.
