Estates & Facilities Technical Manager

Hintel UK is looking for a Estates & Facilities Technical Manager

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and technically-minded Estates & Facilities professional to step into a senior management role overseeing a diverse national property portfolio within the purpose-built residential sector.

As the Estates & Facilities Technical Manager, you will take ownership of a broad scope of technical responsibilities, from strategic asset planning and compliance to the delivery of capital projects, mobilisation of new schemes, and resolution of complex latent defects. This role demands a strong technical background, especially in electrical systems and hard services, as well as experience managing large-scale M&E, HVAC, and compliance frameworks.

This position is perfect for someone who is looking to lead at a national level, with a blend of strategic input and on-the-ground technical oversight. Travel required: 3-4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership across a national residential portfolio, particularly around defect rectification, lifecycle projects, and planned preventative maintenance.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on M&E systems, including electrical infrastructure, compliance audits, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead on the mobilisation and technical integration of new developments, acquisitions and refurbishments.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of handover documentation, certifications, warranties, and asset registers.
  • Oversee project management of key capital works and large-scale repair initiatives.
  • Act as the appointed person for electrical policies and procedures, ensuring all works meet internal standards and statutory regulations.
  • Provide technical reports and board-level briefings on asset condition, compliance, and planned projects.
  • Act as the interface between site teams, contractors, and operational leadership to deliver effective solutions and ensure continuity of service.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised qualification in a built environment discipline or project management.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Proven experience managing hard services and technical compliance across multiple sites.
  • Strong background in commissioning, mobilisation, and handover of new-build or refurbishment projects.
  • Excellent understanding of health & safety regulations, statutory compliance, and facilities standards.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in a multi-stakeholder, fast-paced operational environment.

Desirable:

  • Awareness or experience with the Building Safety Act 2022 and its practical implications.
  • Membership of IWFM, IOSH, APM or other relevant professional body.
  • Familiarity with asset lifecycle planning, risk management, and vendor performance control.

Why Apply?

  • Strategic national role with significant influence over technical and operational delivery.
  • Work on a high-quality, modern property portfolio.
  • Excellent opportunity for an experienced technical FM professional to step into a leadership role with visibility at executive level.
  • Competitive package with scope for progression.
