Legal Counsel – Data Privacy

In-house role at a multinational organisation

West Sussex-based - flexible working

3-5 PQE

Details of the position

In-house Legal Counsel role supporting a large, regulated UK business with a strong digital and data agenda
Broad commercial remit with a clear focus on digital products, data, IT and privacy
Trusted adviser to senior stakeholders on complex, business-critical issues
Exposure to UK and EU regulatory frameworks in a fast-moving environment
Opportunity to lead legal input on major projects and initiatives
Hybrid working model

Key responsibilities

Advise on digital, data protection, privacy and technology matters across the business
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and technology contracts
Act as legal lead for digital and data-driven projects
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess business impact
Manage disputes and litigation within remit
Coordinate with global legal and compliance stakeholders
Ensure activities align with applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards

About you

UK-qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (England & Wales)
3+ years of post-qualification experience at a law firm or in-house
Strong experience in digital, IT and data protection/privacy law
Background in a regulated industry (e.g. Life sciences, healthcare, technology, financial services) preferred
Confident operating independently on complex legal issues
Commercial, pragmatic approach to risk
Clear communicator, comfortable working with non-legal stakeholders
