Interim Legal Counsel (Secured Lending, Derivatives)- £145k-£155k- Financial Services Client

Job description

We are looking for an experienced interim Legal Counsel to join a major financial services client to help provide immediate support across secured lending, derivatives, securities finance, and commodities finance. This is a great opportunity for a mid–senior lawyer who enjoys fast-paced transactional work and wants to step into a role where they can make an impact from day one.

The Opportunity

You’ll be stepping into a broad and varied role supporting a busy legal function. The work spans secured lending, master trading documentation, and commodities finance, with a strong emphasis on managing escalations and helping to keep transactions moving. You’ll work closely with a junior team member who handles more of the commodities workflow, providing guidance and oversight where needed.

This is an interim position designed to provide cover for approximately 3–6 months, with the team able to move quickly for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting secured lending, derivatives, securities finance, and commodities finance matters.
• Reviewing, negotiating, and advising on master trading documentation, including:
• ISDAs
• GMSLAs
• GMRAs
• Long-form commodity confirmations
• Handling escalations and providing oversight to a recently qualified junior lawyer.
• Working on commodities-related transactions such as spot repo and base metals financing.
• Managing largely standard-form documentation with limited bespoke structuring.
• Operating autonomously and integrating quickly into the team.

What We’re Looking For

• A qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent).
• Mid–senior level experience in secured lending, derivatives, or securities finance.
• Strong familiarity with ISDAs, GMSLAs, GMRAs, and related trading documentation.
• Ability to hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.
• Comfortable supporting commodities finance work (prior experience helpful but not essential).
• Confident managing escalations and supporting junior team members.

Key Details

• Location: London, 4 days in office (might be some flexibility for 3)
