Associate/Counsel, Energy, Projects & Construction - Leading International Law Firm (5-10 PQE)

Job description

Our client is seeking a talented associate to join their Projects & Infrastructure practice in London. The team advises on a broad range of infrastructure, energy, and PPP/PFI projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. With over c.30 closed PPP/PFI transactions and deals exceeding £19bn in aggregate value in the UK alone, the practice combines deep market expertise with international project exposure.

The successful candidate will join a team advising sponsors, lenders, funders, and public authorities on transport, health, education, defence, renewable energy, waste, and major construction projects, including EPC, EPCM, and related construction agreements.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams in negotiating, structuring, and documenting EPC, construction, and associated project agreements.
• Advise on project lifecycle matters including development, financing, construction, operation, and investment.
• Contribute to major infrastructure and energy M&A, secondary market transactions, and refinancings.
• Draft and review complex project contracts, risk allocation frameworks, and security packages.
• Assist on high-profile infrastructure mandates including renewable energy, waste-to-energy, PPP/PFI schemes, and major transport projects.

Your Profile

• 5 to 10 years PQE in projects, energy, infrastructure, or construction law.
• England & Wales qualified, or equivalent with solid UK market experience
• Experience advising on EPC, PPP/PFI, or complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong academic record and excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Comfortable working on multi-jurisdictional projects and in high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage workload efficiently and communicate clearly with clients and senior colleagues.
