Senior Counsel – Specialist Risk + Commercial Legal

Hybrid | London | High‑Growth International Insurance Firm

I’m supporting a leading specialist insurance advisory firm—known for its collaborative culture, technical excellence and rapid growth in complex risk markets—seeking a dynamic Senior Counsel to join their Legal function while also acting as the dedicated legal partner to a niche, fast‑growing specialty division.

This is a unique dual role offering variety, visibility and real influence.

What You’ll Do

Specialty Credit, Surety & Political Risk (3 days/week)

Become the legal lead for a high‑momentum transactional risk team covering credit insurance, political risk and surety solutions.

You’ll:

• Shape and review specialist policy wordings
• Provide independent assessments on complex credit‑related contracts
• Advise clients on coverage, regulatory implications and policy compliance
• Support claims and restructurings
• Partner closely with brokers on high-value, cross‑border deals

Group Legal (2 days/week)

Work across the wider business, advising on:

• Commercial contracts and negotiation
• Legal strategy and risk management
• Business projects, systems and new initiatives
• Training, governance and process improvements
• Liaison with external counsel, including disputes

A role with genuine breadth—technical depth blended with corporate variety.

Who We’re Looking For

• Qualified Solicitor with strong insurance law grounding
• Experience around credit insurance or financial regulatory frameworks is a plus
• Approx. 10 years PQE split between private practice and in‑house
• Confident, commercially minded, and comfortable advising senior stakeholders
• London-based with hybrid working (typically three office days)
