Commercial Manager with Proven Fees Experience for an International Architecture Practice

£55,000–£65,000

Central London


We are seeking a commercially minded and proactive Commercial Manager to oversee and strengthen the financial and contractual performance of our international architecture practice. Working closely with the CEO and senior project teams, you will play a central role in ensuring projects are commercially sound, effectively managed, and aligned with the practice’s wider financial strategy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts, including terms and conditions with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Partner with the CEO to develop fee strategies and prepare commercial proposals.
  • Monitor project expenditure to ensure delivery within budget while protecting profitability.
  • Track financial performance across multiple projects and provide regular reporting to the CEO and Finance team.
  • Advise project leads on scope definition, deliverables, and commercial alignment.
  • Analyse project data to identify trends, efficiencies, and opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Work closely with architectural and design team leaders to promote strong commercial awareness across project delivery.
  • Ensure contractual documentation complies with company procedures and relevant legal standards.
  • Maintain accurate and well-structured commercial records, including contracts, fee proposals, and consultancy agreements.
  • Contribute to bid preparation, RfPs, and fee submissions, including coordination of sub-consultants on multidisciplinary proposals.
  • Participate in project initiation processes and pipeline review meetings.


Skills and Experience

  • Professional background in architecture, design, or the wider built environment.
  • At least three years’ experience in a comparable role, with significant exposure to contract management and fee development.
  • Advanced Excel capability and strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience with CMAP is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, detail-focused, and strategic in approach.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available).
