Allen Lane are pleased to support a local authority in the Nottingham area on their recruitment for an interim Governance Lead.


Responsibilities:

Form and refine the requirements that the Council has for its group of companies; including the Companies Governance Handbook, policy and guidance documentation.

Work with the shareholder representatives and the companies to ensure that all areas of the business meet the internal Council, regulatory and statutory requirements relating to the group.

Recruit company board members and shareholder representatives when vacancies arise and plan for successions.

Develop and maintain an over-view of group risk, ensuring that all parties understand their responsibilities and take ownership of mitigations

Work with the companies and Council colleagues to deliver a programme of performance reporting.

Engage with liquidators to monitor divestments of the Council’s ownership in companies as required.

Plan the closure of the dormant non trading entities the Council owns.

Ensure planned and ad-hoc activities are timetabled and adhered to across both the Council and its companies.

Provide reporting to management and formal boards on a routine basis, and as necessary for audit or other reviews.

Ensure company board directors and shareholder representatives are fully conversant with the relevant legislation, governance rules and best practice through development of training plans.


This is a 3-6 month contract and hybrid working with 2x a week in office in Nottingham.
