Job description
Portfolio Management Lawyer | London | Elite US Law Firm | Premium Pay + Predictable Hours
A leading international law firm is seeking a Portfolio Management Lawyer to join its highly regarded London private capital platform.
This is a rare opportunity to move into a strategic, high-value role within a top-tier team, offering predictable hours, premium US-level compensation (matched to fee earners in the team) and the same progression opportunities as traditional transactional associates.
The Role
You will sit within a market-leading private equity and credit-focused practice, supporting sponsors and funds on the ongoing management of portfolio investments. The role focuses on:
- Amendments, waivers and consents
- Refinancings and recapitalisations
- Shareholders agreements
- Covenant resets and liability management exercises
- General portfolio company and fund-level financing matters
You will work closely with partners and deal teams, acting as a key adviser across the lifecycle of complex leveraged and private credit structures.
The Opportunity
This platform offers:
- Predictable and sustainable hours
- Compensation aligned with fee-earning associates
- Clear and equivalent progression pathway
- High-quality, sponsor-driven work
- A collaborative, non-hierarchical culture
- Exposure to premium private equity sponsors and fund clients
Importantly, the team is open to lawyers from either a private equity or funds background, provided you have strong transactional experience and an interest in portfolio and ongoing asset management work.
The Candidate
- England & Wales qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience in private equity or funds
- Strong drafting and technical skills
This role is ideal for a PE or funds lawyer who enjoys the technical and commercial aspects of complex transactions but is seeking a more structured and predictable working pattern without sacrificing quality, pay or long-term progression.
