Clinical / Counselling Psychologist (Band 7–8a) – Trauma & PTSD Services

Location: Ipswich / Norwich / Hybrid Working

Salary: Band 7: £50,273 – £54,710 per annum - Band 8a: From £55,690 per annum

Contract: Fixed-term (2 years)

Hours: Full-time or 0.8 WTE (4 days per week)

Sanctuary Personnel are recruiting for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 7–8a) to join a specialist trauma and PTSD psychology service supporting police officers and first responders. This is a well-established service known for its strong clinical governance, excellent leadership, and commitment to staff wellbeing.

The service is open to newly qualified psychologists as well as experienced clinicians. A genuine interest in trauma-focused work and a desire to develop specialist skills is valued over extensive prior experience.

The Role

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions for PTSD and trauma
  • Complete clinical assessments, formulations, and treatment plans
  • Provide predominantly face-to-face therapy with some remote sessions
  • Work within a specialist trauma-focused treatment model (full training provided)
  • Maintain high-quality clinical records and adhere to governance standards
  • Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Attend other service locations as required

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist
  • Strong interest in trauma psychology and PTSD treatment
  • Excellent clinical assessment and formulation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to undergo police vetting (no prior clearance required)
  • Flexibility to work primarily on-site with some travel as needed

Desirable Experience

  • Training in trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR or TF-CBT
  • Experience working with trauma, emergency services, or high-risk populations
  • Previous experience delivering PTSD or trauma-focused interventions
