Graphic Designer (Multi-Disciplinary)

Mustard is looking for a Graphic Designer (Multi-Disciplinary)

Job description

Freelance → Long-Term Potential

Mustard is evolving.

We are a design-led lifestyle brand stocked internationally, and we’re entering our next phase: building a bold, nostalgic, pop-culture object brand rooted in recognisable commercial iconography and playful provocation.

We are looking for a culturally sharp, multi-disciplinary Graphic Designer to help define Mustard

This is not a corporate in-house design job.

This is for someone who understands culture, composition, product, and commerce.

The Role

You will work directly with the Founder to:

• Develop bold graphic concepts for physical products

• Create cohesive capsule collections (not random SKUs)

• Design packaging rooted in 80s/90s commercial nostalgia

• Develop apparel graphics and object-led visual identities

• Design web assets, email campaigns and social content

• Build a consistent visual world across product + digital

You will help shape the creative direction of a growing lifestyle brand.

This Might Be Right If You:

• Are fluent in Illustrator & Photoshop

• Love pop-art, commercial nostalgia and surreal imagery

• Can work quickly and take direction

• Have an eye for typography and composition

• Can move seamlessly between product graphics, apparel, and digital

• Have strong typography skills

• Understand how to create culturally resonant imagery without being try-hard

• Think in systems, not one-off posts

• AI is a tool not a crutch. We’re looking for designers who use it intelligently.

The Aesthetic Direction:

Bold.

Commercial.

Nostalgic.

Slightly provocative.

Think cultural iconography reimagined - not safe minimalism.

Bonus (but not essential):

• Experience designing for physical products

• Experience with apparel graphics

• Editorial experience

• Ability to art direct shoots

Not For:

• Corporate brand guideline custodians

• Pure UI designers

• Meme-page content creators

• Portfolio-only conceptual designers without commercial awareness

What we're building

Mustard sits at the intersection of:

• Pop culture

• Commercial iconography

• Object-led design

• Playful provocation

Think early Urban Outfitters energy but sharper and more disciplined.

Pay Structure:

Freelance or retainer to start.

Potential to grow into Creative Lead as brand expands.

We care about taste, commercial instinct and creative confidence more than job titles.

How to Apply:

Send portfolio + short note explaining why this aesthetic excites you.
