Solar Design Manager

Job description

A major UK home energy provider has recently launched a new in-house technical platform to scale domestic Solar PV installations nationwide and is now hiring a Solar Design Manager to lead the technical heart of the operation.

The Opportunity

A senior, office-based leadership role overseeing design quality, governance and output across a high-volume domestic solar portfolio. That speed only works with exceptional design leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Solar Design / Technical team

• Own quality, consistency and compliance (MCS, Building Regs, manufacturer standards)

• Oversee design validation so installers attend fully prepared

• Final technical escalation point for complex cases

• Work alongside electrical auditors on compliance checks

• Deliver design training to sales partners - embedding right-first-time principles

• Set standards, build process and enable scale (not firefighting installs)

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ domestic Solar PV & Battery design experience

• Leadership experience within a technical/design function

• Strong working knowledge of OpenSolar, PV*Sol (or similar)

• Excellent grasp of UK solar regulations & electrical standards

• Structured, quality-driven and confident influencing stakeholders
