3 months | £200 per day outside IR35 | Hybrid working - 4 days on-site

The Role

An innovative player in the space technology sector is seeking an Interim Electronics Buyer to manage the end-to-end procurement of electronic and mechanical components across multiple projects. This hands-on role ensures smooth, compliant, and cost-effective sourcing while supporting fast-moving, high-tech programs in the satellite and space community.

Key Focus Areas

• Oversee the procurement process from RFI through RFP, negotiation, purchase order placement, and delivery tracking
• Lead sourcing and delivery of mechanical and electronic components/assemblies
• Engage directly with suppliers to negotiate best value and delivery terms
• Support proposal preparation, work statements, specifications, and operating budgets
• Ensure compliance with business processes, ERP systems, and relevant quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100)
• Collaborate across multiple projects and customers, maintaining focus under dynamic conditions
• Apply knowledge of ESA, NASA, and UK/US export control standards where relevant

What We’re Looking For

• 2–5 years’ experience in procurement/electronics buying in satellite or defence industries
• Proven ability to manage all aspects of procurement from RFI to component delivery, including supplier engagement and negotiation
• Strong organisational, administration, and decision-making skills while working across multiple projects and global suppliers
• Ability to analyse technical and commercial procurement requirements and ensure compliance with quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100)
• Competent in using ERP/business systems and following standardised processes
• Experience with ESA/ECSS, NASA, or MIL-STD standards would be beneficial
• Understanding of UK/US export control guidelines would be beneficial

The Details

Contract Length: 3 months

Location: Oxfordshire - 4 days a week on-site and 1 day working from home

Day rate: £200 outside IR35

Start Date: Immediate

Clearance: BPSS required before start
