Job description
Small Glasgow-based consultancy looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with around 1 year of experience. The role will involve a mix of Phase 1 & Phase 2 site investigations, reporting, and hands-on site work.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRAs) including desk studies and site walkovers
- Planning and supervising Phase 2 Ground Investigations
- Logging soils and rock to BS5930 standards
- Coordinating and supervising trial pits, boreholes, and in-situ testing
- Liaising with subcontract drillers and laboratory teams
- Factual and interpretative report writing
- Basic geotechnical design input (foundations, earthworks, etc.)
- Client and contractor communication
Requirements
- 1+ year experience in a geotechnical or geo-environmental role
- Experience delivering Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations
- Strong soil logging and site supervision experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Civil Engineering
- Good report writing skills
Desirable
- Experience working in Scotland
- Working knowledge of Eurocodes
- Ambition to progress toward chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
