Housing Disrepair Solicitor (2+ PQE)

Manchester Competitive Salary + Bonus (DOE)


Our client is a highly respected and rapidly growing claimant law firm is expanding its specialist Housing Disrepair team and is seeking an experienced Solicitor with 2+ years’ PQE to join its ranks. The Role


You will manage a varied caseload of housing disrepair matters, acting for tenants against local authorities and housing associations. The role offers a high level of autonomy, alongside support from an experienced team.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Managing a caseload of housing disrepair claims from inception to settlement or trial
  • Conducting litigation under the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions
  • Drafting pleadings, schedules of disrepair and witness statements
  • Liaising with experts, counsel, clients, and defendants
  • Advising clients on liability, quantum, and settlement strategy
  • Ensuring compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements


Candidate Requirements


  • Qualified Solicitor with 2+ years PQE in housing disrepair or related housing litigation
  • Experience in HDR desired, but re-train opportunity available for the right candidate.
  • Handling a caseload of between 60-80 litigated files.
  • Comfortable with all aspects of litigation, including drafting of own proceedings.
  • Strong knowledge of housing law and civil litigation procedure
  • Confident managing files independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong client care and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with a proactive approach to case management
