Role Overview:

Senior Garment Technician working within RTW on Knit, Jersey & Shirts


Reporting to: Head of Industrialisation

Location: Hammersmith, London


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary category contact for suppliers across China & Europe
  • Ensure that Victoria Beckham quality and performance standards are met
  • Create technical and measurement specifications, maintain grading and sizing rules for each garment type
  • Measure and review all samples from handover to production
  • Organize fit meetings and document sample comments with pattern cutter
  • Coordinate all fittings from first handover through to final pre-production sample
  • Maintain consistency of quality and fit across suppliers and throughout the product range
  • Communicate fit, quality and construction requirements to suppliers through sample comments
  • From time-to-time review test reports submitted
  • Work closely with the design, development and supply chain teams to ensure products are risk assessed in a timely manner
  • Support with the admin of the department. Keeping all departmental trackers up to date
  • Team player who collaborates and directs with ease, motivating and developing others within your team
  • Being aware of department/seasonal budgets for technical department
  • Lead product reviews in line with competitors fit and quality standards
  • Support the team and contribute with developing technical team ways of working, supporting the business in more efficient processes
  • Work closely with pattern cutter & department student intern


Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of Garment Technology experience
  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Garment Technology / Pattern cutting or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good knowledge of garment construction methods, draping and manufacturing sewing operations, including pattern making, grading and marking processes
  • A working knowledge of materials, technical fabrics and functional aspects of garments
  • Strong organizational skills to provide well documented products, thorough specifications and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with factories overseas and an understanding of constraints and timescales
  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and agents
  • Ability to anticipate technical problems, and to plan and implement corrective action plan
  • Enthusiasm to grow and adapt within a fast-growing business
  • Knows how to work under pressure to meet key deadlines
  • Attention to detail essential
  • An understanding and appreciation for luxury apparel
  • IT skills: MS Office mandatory, Zedonk & Gerber (optional)
  • Fluent in English, second language desirable
