Role Description

You will have full accountability for end-to-end warehouse operations including Goods In, Inventory, Picking, Packing, Dispatch, Returns, and workforce planning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing 5 Team Leaders, a Process Expert and 25+ Operatives

• Delivering 99.9% dispatch accuracy across 1,000+ parcels daily

• Managing palletised and multi parcel distribution both inbound and outbound

• Driving stock accuracy to 99%+

• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and leading a proactive safety culture

• Managing HR matters including performance, absence, discipline and development


Driving Continuous Improvement, Automation & Operational Efficiency

You will:


  1. Identify and implement improved automation opportunities across picking, packing, stock control and dispatch process.
  2. Identify and implement improved automation opportunities across picking, packing, stock control and dispatch processes
  3. Optimise WMS functionality to improve productivity, accuracy and visibility
  4. Use operational data and KPI’s to drive planning, workflow optimisation and decision-making
  5. Introduce AI-enabled efficiencies where appropriate (e.g. Demand forecasting, intelligent slotting, productivity tracking, error reduction)
  6. Lead digital transformation initiatives to reduce manual processes and increase scalability
  7. Champion continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to enhance throughput and reduce waste
  8. Work closely with the Process Expert to embed structured Standard Working Instructions (SWIs) and system-led controls


Qualifications

Essential:

• 3–5+ years’ experience managing a fast-paced, high-volume B2B distribution warehouse

• Proven experience dispatching 1,000+ parcels per day

• Experience leading Team Leaders / middle managers

• Strong KPI and performance management background

• Formal Health & Safety qualification (minimum IOSH Managing Safely)

• Experience with WMS systems and operational IT

• Strong people management and HR capability

Desirable:

• NEBOSH qualification

• Experience implementing automation or process improvement initiatives

• Lean / Continuous Improvement experience

• WMS implementation or optimisation experience

• ILM/CMI Level 3/5 (or equivalent leadership qualification)
