Job description
Module Content Developers (Level 7)
Engineering Management – Distance Learning
Location: Plymouth (Studio Recording Required) | Remote Development (UK-based)
MLA College is seeking academically strong, subject-specialist academics to develop postgraduate (Level 7, 30-credit) distance learning modules within our Engineering Management provision.
We are recruiting content developers for the following modules:
- Strategy, Accounting & Finance
- Lean & Agile Enterprises
- Project Management
These modules form part of a fully online postgraduate programme where students receive all learning materials at the outset. We therefore require experienced higher education professionals who can translate deep subject-matter expertise into academically rigorous, engaging digital learning suitable for Level 7 study.
This role is not suitable for generalist content writers or freelance technical writers without direct subject expertise in the specified module areas.
About the Role
You will design and develop the complete academic content for a 30-credit Level 7 module, including:
- Structured lecture materials (PowerPoint), organised into coherent academic chapters
- Fully written academic transcripts to accompany recorded delivery
- Tutorial-style video learning materials
- Professional voiceover and green-screen lecture recordings (in our Plymouth studio)
- An initial Level 7 assessment question bank aligned explicitly to module learning outcomes
This is a senior academic content development role requiring independent module design capability, postgraduate-level criticality, and clear alignment with UK Level 7 standards.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A Master’s or Doctorate in a directly relevant discipline
- Demonstrable subject-matter expertise in one of the specified module areas
- Experience teaching or designing modules within UK higher education (essential)
- Clear understanding of Level 7 academic standards and postgraduate assessment design
- Ability to design learning outcomes, aligned assessments, and academically robust content
- Confidence presenting and recording professional video content
- Excellent academic writing skills
UK-based applicants are strongly preferred due to the requirement to attend studio recording sessions in Plymouth.
Important: Subject Alignment & Application Requirements
We will only consider applications that clearly demonstrate direct alignment with at least one of the advertised modules.
Your covering statement (maximum 2 pages) must:
- Specify which module you are applying for
- Clearly outline your subject expertise in that specific area
- Provide evidence of relevant postgraduate teaching or module design experience
- Explain how your experience directly aligns with Level 7 delivery in that subject
Generic CV submissions without a tailored covering statement addressing the above criteria will not be considered.
Engagement & Fees
Fees will reflect the scope of deliverables. UK travel and subsistence for studio work in Plymouth will be covered where appropriate.
How to Apply
Please submit:
- A tailored CV clearly demonstrating subject-specific and higher education experience
- A covering statement (maximum 2 pages) addressing the requirements outlined above
- Indication of which module(s) you are applying for
