Job description

Campden BRI offer commercial analytical laboratory chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritional and health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography, packaging, cereals and ingredients, and wines and spirits. You will be working in the Packaging Team.


What you’ll be doing

Looking for a science-led role where you can apply your degree, work with industry clients, and develop your technical expertise as part of a collaborative team?


We’re looking for a Packaging Technologist / Scientist to join our Analytical Services – Packaging team at our Chipping Campden site. This is a predominantly on-site role and, due to our rural location, applicants will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.


Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Delivering technical work on packaging projects, managing your own time to meet project deadlines
  • Carrying out packaging analysis and testing across a range of materials and formats
  • Interpreting results and contributing to client reports under supervision
  • Supporting the practical delivery of training courses, including demonstrations
  • Responding to technical enquiries with support from senior colleagues
  • Assisting with preparation of simple project quotations
  • Maintaining analytical equipment, pilot plant facilities, and associated records
  • Supporting good housekeeping, hygiene, and safety practices
  • Working closely with colleagues across multidisciplinary teams


What we’re looking for

  • A degree in Packaging, Materials Science, Food Technology, Microscopy, or a closely related discipline
  • An interest or foundational knowledge of food packaging materials (e.g. Plastics, paperboard, metal, glass)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to interact with clients
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
  • Basic IT skills and general technical literacy
  • A proactive, can-do approach and willingness to learn


Knowledge of polymer science or previous experience in packaging or laboratory environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
