Senior HR Advisor
Location: Bridgwater
Contract: Full-time, on-site (5 days per week)
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior HR Advisor to join our team in Bridgwater. In this visible and hands-on role, you will provide day-to-day operational HR support across a complex, fast-paced site, ensuring alignment with UK HR policies, client practices, and UK regulatory requirements. You will be a trusted partner to managers and employees, enabling effective people decisions and smooth workforce mobilisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional HR advice and first-line support to managers in line with business objectives, policies, and UK employment law.
- Deliver day-to-day HR operations across recruitment, onboarding, pay & benefits, performance management, employee relations, communications, training & development, and terminations.
- Manage referencing for new starters, verifying accuracy and compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee vetting and identification checks, ensuring complete and compliant documentation aligned with client and UK standards.
- Support visa application processes to enable mobilisation of key employees from other entities to the site.
- Monitor, chase, and coordinate HR process inputs to minimise delays to site resourcing and mobilisation.
- Respond to HR queries, providing accurate guidance or escalating appropriately.
- Process leavers in a timely manner (security access, property return, payroll notifications, documentation).
- Maintain accurate, real-time HR and finance system data and produce standard and ad‑hoc HR management information (MI).
- Provide responsive administrative and coordination support to the HR Director and Operational Leads.
- Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes and procedures to reflect best practice and drive efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualification in HR or a related discipline.
- Working towards CIPD qualification (or equivalent professional accreditation).
- Demonstrable experience in a generalist HR role within a fast-paced, operational environment (infrastructure/engineering/industrial sectors desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment practices and HR processes (onboarding, vetting, ER, performance, MI/reporting).
- Confident advisor with excellent stakeholder management, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working on-site five days per week..
