Senior Associate – Real Estate Structured Debt | 6+ PQE | London
MAP Legal is instructed on a senior associate opportunity within a highly regarded international law firm’s real estate finance and structured debt practice.
This role is aimed at lawyers with upwards of six years’ PQE, ideally currently practising at US, Magic Circle or Silver Circle firms, who are looking to consolidate their position as a senior associate while building a clear pathway for longer-term career progression.
The practice
The team forms part of a well-established real estate finance platform with a strong reputation for advising on complex structured debt and securitisation matters. The practice acts for a sophisticated client base including investment banks, alternative lenders, private credit funds and institutional investors across the UK and Europe.
The structured debt offering has seen sustained investment and growth in recent years, resulting in a strong and varied pipeline of technically challenging work. Lawyers benefit from exposure to a broad range of financing structures and asset classes, as well as meaningful involvement in high-profile transactions.
The role
The successful candidate will operate as a senior associate within the team, taking responsibility for leading transactions and supporting the continued development of the practice.
Responsibilities will include:
• leading real estate structured finance transactions across a range of asset classes and structures
• advising banks, investment banks, debt funds and alternative lenders on complex and high-value matters
• drafting and negotiating structured finance documentation including CRE warehouse facilities, repurchase agreements (MRA and GMRA), note issuance documentation, intercreditor and cash management agreements, securitisation materials and legal opinions
• acting as the senior interface between structured finance and real estate finance workstreams, with a holistic understanding of the full capital stack
• supervising and mentoring junior associates, trainees and other members of the deal team
• developing client relationships and supporting senior lawyers with client management and business development initiatives
• contributing to knowledge development, market insight and internal training

Candidate profile
• England and Wales qualified lawyer with 6+ years’ PQE
• strong experience in structured finance and/or securitisation, ideally within a real estate finance context
• experience gained at a US, Magic Circle or Silver Circle firm, or at a firm operating at a comparable level
• confident leading matters and working directly with clients
• strong technical ability combined with a commercial and pragmatic approach
• an interest in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the wider development of the practice
