Group Automation Project Manager

The Sterling Choice is looking for a Group Automation Project Manager

Job description

**We’re looking for candidates with experience delivering automation projects from concept through to completion within the food industry. This specific background is essential for the role, so we’re only able to consider applicants with relevant food industry automation experience at this time.**

A leading UK food manufacturing group is looking for a Group Automation Project Manager to take complex automation initiatives across multiple sites and turn them into real, measurable impact. You’ll be driving efficiency, improving capacity, and delivering solutions that actually make a difference in day-to-day operations.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can navigate complexity, influence stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard across the UK.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead automation projects from concept to delivery, ensuring solutions deliver measurable efficiency and capacity improvements
  • Coordinate across sites, suppliers, and stakeholders, translating operational challenges into practical, actionable solutions
  • Maintain a pipeline of initiatives to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and expectations while overcoming operational and technical challenges
  • Ensure smooth handover to operational teams so solutions run reliably after implementation
  • Travel across the UK as required to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement

Who this role is for

This isn’t a desk-bound coordination role. It’s for someone who:

  • Can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
  • Thrives on solving complex problems others assume are too difficult
  • Can influence senior leaders, site teams, and suppliers to achieve results
  • Has experience in food manufacturing or high-volume production operations
  • Is confident managing multiple projects, sites, and stakeholders simultaneously

Why this role matters

Factories don’t run themselves. Machines and systems are only as good as the people who plan, deliver, and maintain them. This role exists to make sure people, processes, and technology work together efficiently, across multiple sites.

Your impact will be clear: smoother operations, increased capacity, fewer delays, and automation initiatives that actually perform.

What you get in return

  • Lead transformation across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Strategic, hands-on, high-visibility role with senior leadership exposure
  • Competitive salary with performance-based incentives
  • Professional development and training
  • The satisfaction of seeing complex projects succeed - not someday, but today.
