The Opportunity
A high growth, independent UK energy supplier operating within the commercial and industrial market is seeking a Settlements Manager to take ownership of a critical operational function at a pivotal stage of growth.
This organisation delivers tailored energy supply and Net Zero solutions to a diverse B2B portfolio. With continued expansion and increasing portfolio complexity, the business is investing in stronger controls, enhanced reporting, and smarter automation across its operations.
This role offers genuine visibility and influence. You will play a key part in shaping how the business performs within industry settlement processes, strengthening operational rigour while helping to design improved ways of working that will scale with growth.
You will lead the settlements function to ensure accurate, timely, and financially robust portfolio settlement.
The Role
As Settlements Manager, you will lead experienced operational teams through portfolio growth, enhance reporting accuracy, and drive continuous improvement across settlement and metering activity.
You will act as a subject matter expert across the business, helping stakeholders understand the financial impact of settlement performance while ensuring risks are identified, managed, and mitigated effectively.
This is a leadership role with both operational ownership and strategic influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate reporting and dashboards, using data to identify root causes, trends, and improvement opportunities
- Own day to day settlement performance across the full journey from acquisition to final settlement, ensuring compliance with industry and internal targets
- Lead and develop established teams, setting clear objectives and preparing them for industry change and portfolio expansion
- Build strong relationships with Billing, Customer Operations, Sales, Finance, and wider stakeholders, positioning Settlements as a core contributor to customer experience and financial performance
- Drive gas transfer read acceptance and proactively identify risk, resolving disputes and exceptions constructively
- Work closely with Finance to analyse settlement variances, financial exposure, risks, and mitigations
- Strengthen processes and controls to achieve right first time settlement and reduce rework and manual intervention
- Act as escalation point for complex settlement issues, coordinating cross functional resolution and clear stakeholder communication
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven leadership experience within gas or electricity settlements, metering, or billing in the UK energy market
- Strong understanding of settlement processes and operational drivers of settlement quality
- Ability to translate settlement activity into financial risk and impact for senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement, including process redesign and control enhancement
- Confident people leader with experience motivating established teams and building a culture of ownership and accountability
- Strong stakeholder management skills across internal teams and external agents
- Analytical mindset with strong Excel capability and experience working with large operational datasets
- Experience improving or implementing settlements, billing, or data platforms is desirable
- Comfortable adopting automation and new tools to drive efficiency
