We are a leading provider of M&E engineering solutions across the UK, delivering complex projects within healthcare, nuclear, defence, government, leisure, industrial and infrastructure sectors. As part of our continued Southern expansion into the South West region, this role will play a key part in strengthening our presence and ensuring robust commercial governance, under the guidance of our Regional Managing Director, Colin Brunton.


We are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead commercial strategy, manage risk, and support the successful delivery of our growing project portfolio.


What you’ll do

  • Lead commercial oversight across multiple projects, ensuring strong cost control, risk management and contractual compliance.
  • Undertake pre‑tender contract reviews and support negotiations through to contract award.
  • Review and validate cost‑reimbursable elements including design development, coordination and programme changes.
  • Prepare and agree Applications for Payment with project teams, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Identify, value and agree variations, ensuring entitlement is protected and recovered.
  • Maintain a positive cash position across projects and oversee credit control processes.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, account administration and final account agreements.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts early, ensuring commercial closure aligns with business targets.
  • Support dispute resolution, ensuring issues are documented, escalated and resolved commercially.
  • Provide commercial leadership to Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors, supporting development and performance.
  • Produce commercial reports, forecasts and summaries to support project and regional decision‑making.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, clients and supply chain partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, commercial best practice and lessons learned across the region.


What you’ll bring

  • Strong commercial management experience within M&E, construction or building services.
  • Excellent understanding of commercial processes, contract conditions and risk management.
  • Ability to analyse commercial data and drive informed business decisions.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop commercial teams.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong commercial acumen.
  • Calm, professional and confident when resolving commercial challenges.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development.
