Job description

MGF are looking to recruit a National Account Manager to oversee continued engagement and growth of our key accounts.

This role is for a proven professional with exceptional construction sector and commercial knowledge and ability. They will have a proven track record of business-to-business success and able to demonstrate a contemporary leadership style with particular focus on continued professional development, succession planning and empowerment of their teams.

This role will require a visionary approach to ensure our customer’s needs are continuously evaluated and understood.

You will be responsible for working collaboratively with our core sales, engineering, account management and marketing teams assisting in the development and implementation of the sales and marketing plans ensuring a fully integrated and collaborative ethos that achieves maximum customer value.

This role will require an experienced professional to oversee the day-to-day management of the regionally based sales teams and work closely with other parts of the business to maximise return on all sales enquiries.


Responsibilities:

Day to day

  • Effective management of existing and specified new target accounts in agreement with the Commercial Director
  • Identify and generate new business opportunities by contacting potential customers, discovering and exploring new opportunities
  • Research and identify streams of work to target
  • Close new business deals by co-ordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts
  • Deliver long term contracts and supply agreements to a wide range of potential new customers through effective presentations and face-to-face negotiations
  • Screen potential business deals by analysing marketing strategies, deal requirements, potential and financials, evaluate options; resolve internal priorities
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture/ ideas with Company strategies and operations; examine risks and potentials
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements, tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments
  • Enhance Company’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Ensure a collaborative Working with sales, design, engineering and other offering support on large schemes.
  • Maintain an effective and positive relationship with other depots/ departments
  • Work closely with Area Sales & Regional Account Managers to ensure jointly owned quarterly work winning meetings are held and acted upon
  • Maintain a good level of knowledge of MGF’s business, systems and operations, building close working relationships with the other Senior Managers
  • Assist in the preparation of commercial bids and financial management of projects such as Pre-Qualifications and Tender
  • Early involvement on large scale projects in the region


Team & Performance Management

  • Work collaboratively with people throughout the business adopting effective leadership/engagement, work in a supportive manner to ensure targets/ KPI’s are achieved
  • Provide constructive feedback where issues need to be addressed with internal stakeholders
  • Ensure individuals are aware of objectives/actions cascaded into the sales team and work closely with sales managers to ensure these are completed in a timely manner
  • Work Closely with sales managers ensuring collaborative work winning meetings
  • Provide advice and guidance to less experienced members of staff


Skills & Knowledge Requirements (Essential)

  • Business to Business experience
  • Utilities infrastructure construction experience
  • Competent to support front-line customer facing staff
  • Familiar with working on framework & SLA agreements
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, safety and statutory regulations
  • Logical and organised
  • Capable of producing and signing of framework agreement/Bids/PQQ
  • Excellent time management
