Power BI Developer

Location: Central London (2–3 days onsite per week)

Engagement: Via specialist Data & AI consultancy

Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading global insurance organisation to deliver a high-impact data transformation programme. As part of this engagement, we are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to join the project team and play a key role in modernising reporting and analytics capabilities.

This is a hybrid role requiring 2–3 days per week onsite in Central London, working closely with stakeholders across underwriting, risk, finance and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable data models
• Build and optimise DAX measures and calculations
• Develop robust data models using star schema principles
• Work with data engineers to integrate data from multiple sources (SQL, APIs, cloud platforms)
• Ensure governance, security and best practice standards are followed
• Engage directly with senior business stakeholders to refine reporting needs
• Support UAT, performance tuning and production deployment

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
• Advanced DAX and data modelling expertise
• Solid SQL skills
• Experience working in regulated environments (insurance, financial services or similar preferred)
• Proven ability to work in stakeholder-facing roles
• Understanding of data governance and access controls
• Experience deploying solutions into enterprise environments

Desirable

• Exposure to Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric)
• Experience working within consultancy or multi-client environments
• Knowledge of insurance domain data (claims, underwriting, risk, actuarial)
