Job description

Optical Assistant - Order Processing & Operations

£27,500 Basic Salary

This is a great opportunity for an Optical Assistant who understands optics, frames and lens types, but would prefer a more operational, behind-the-scenes role where you keep everything running smoothly.

Our client is a rapidly expanding luxury eyewear specialist, and due to continued growth, they are looking for a highly organised Optical Assistant to manage and triage several hundred orders per week in a fast-paced, detail-focused role that sits at the heart of the operation.

The Role

  • Manage 100+ daily spectacle and sunglasses orders
  • Process and check orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Triage orders based on urgency and importance
  • Liaise closely with the internal Customer Experience team regarding order updates and queries
  • Monitor workflow to ensure deadlines are met
  • Identify and escalate any issues that could impact turnaround times
  • Help maintain smooth, efficient operational processes at all times

This role has minimal patient-facing interaction and it’s not a dispensing role, instead, you will act as the vital internal link between ordering, production and customer experience — ensuring customers receive their eyewear on time and to the highest standard.

Who This Would Suit

  • An experienced Optical Assistant with strong product knowledge (frames & lenses)
  • Someone currently working in an opticians who enjoys the technical side but not necessarily constant face-to-face interaction
  • A highly organised individual who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment
  • Someone confident managing high volumes of work with accuracy
  • A detail-focused problem solver who takes pride in keeping things running efficiently

If you’re the person colleagues rely on to keep things organised and on track — this could be ideal for you.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 5:30pm
  • One Saturday in three: 9:00am – 3:00pm
  • When working a Saturday, you still only work five days that week (e.g. Tuesday to Saturday)

Benefits

  • £27,500 basic salary
  • Glasgow city centre location
  • Casual dress
  • Staff discount
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Gym membership
  • Excellent training & development
  • Genuine long-term progression opportunities within a growing luxury brand

If you’re looking to use your optical knowledge in a more operational, structured role — while still being part of an exciting and expanding brand — we’d love to hear from you.
