Role: Technical SupervisorSector: Food Manufacturing Location: East of Edinburgh
The RoleWe are working with a well-established food manufacturing business in the East of Edinburgh who are looking to appoint a Technical Supervisor to support the site’s Technical function.Reporting directly into the Site Technical Lead, this role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day technical operations, maintaining food safety and quality standards, and acting as a visible presence on the factory floor. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone looking to step up or further develop their career within Technical.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Site Technical Lead and wider Technical team in maintaining food safety, quality and legality across the siteDay-to-day supervision of technical activities on the factory floorEnsure compliance with BRCGS standards, customer codes of practice and internal quality systemsCarry out and review routine quality checks, GMP audits and hygiene standardsSupport internal audits, customer audits and third-party audits as requiredAssist with investigations into non-conformances, complaints and corrective actionsReview and maintain technical documentation, specifications and recordsSupport training and coaching of production teams on food safety and quality standardsAct as a key point of contact between Technical and Operations during shifts
About YouExperience working within a food manufacturing technical or quality roleStrong understanding of food safety systems including HACCP, GMP and BRCComfortable working in a hands-on, factory-based environmentConfident communicator, able to work closely with Production and Engineering teamsOrganised, detail-focused and able to manage multiple prioritiesLooking to develop towards a senior technical or management roleFormal qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
Desirable (but not essential)Experience supporting or leading auditsPrevious supervisory or team-lead responsibilities
