Senior Electrical Design Engineer

An established consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design delivery while overseeing junior team members and supporting project and commercial management activities.

This role combines hands-on technical design, team leadership, and client engagement. The successful candidate will manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery in line with programme and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design across a variety of project sectors.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Deliver full design packages including specifications, drawings, schedules, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Manage projects in line with company procedures, programme, and budget.
• Monitor design team costs and contribute to financial reporting.
• Assist with fee assessments and preparation of bid submissions.
• Liaise directly with clients and attend project meetings.
• Conduct site surveys and produce technical reports.
• Carry out quality inspections and ensure compliance with standards.
• Use CAD and BIM systems in accordance with internal standards.
• Monitor and manage financial aspects of projects.
• Contribute to the development of internal electrical standards.
• Support business development and client relationship growth.

Experience Required

• Proven experience within a building services consultancy or contractor design environment.
• Project management of multi-disciplinary building services projects.
• Production of detailed specifications and design calculations (manual and software-based).
• Preparation of tender packages and tender analysis.
• Development of budget costings for building services.
• On-site project management experience.
• Production of condition and survey reports.
• Direct client liaison and stakeholder management.
• Management and mentoring of junior staff.
• Experience undertaking site surveys across the UK.

• UK BIM and Revit standards

Qualifications

• HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
