Electronics Design Engineer

Southampton

£50,000 – £55,000

Permanent, Full Time


Join a specialist engineering business designing advanced Human Machine Interface (HMI) products that improve user experience, enhance communications and boost productivity. As an Electronics Design Engineer, you’ll take designs from concept through to manufacture and test, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to turn product ideas into robust, manufacturable electronic solutions.


The Role


You will:

  • Collaborate with the design team to create and develop electronic assemblies for specialist HMI products, from initial concept through to final testing and release.
  • Provide application support and implement design modifications on existing products, understanding how and where they are used in the field.
  • Develop and maintain test software for electronic assemblies, and support associated test activities.
  • Design and produce multi‑layer PCBs using PCB CAD tools, including schematic capture and layout for mixed‑signal designs.
  • Create and support analogue and digital test assemblies, including microprocessor programming where required.
  • Evaluate and qualify new components for use within product designs.
  • Produce and maintain clear design and test documentation, support transition to production and provide guidance and training to technicians.
  • Help build the team’s electrical capability through knowledge sharing and internal development.


About You


You will bring:


  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in board‑level mixed‑signal design and complex PCB layout.
  • Proficiency with circuit design and PCB CAD tools.
  • Proven ability to fault‑find electronics down to component level and support prototype test/debug.
  • Good understanding of electronics and electrical interfaces, and how to apply current technologies and materials in practical designs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex technical information clearly.
  • Self‑motivation, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a flexible, collaborative approach within a small team.
